How It All Began!

I think I have always been a consumate maker since I was a small child & certainly in my teens when my Mum was always amazed how I could pick up a remnant in a fabric shop for next to nothing and have something new to wear for Sat night on a regular basis! However I didn't lick this off the ground as they say as I come from a family of makers & doers - my Grandmother was always knitting aran jumpers for her children & grandchildren or crocheting the most amazing tablecloths, table mats etc. while my aunts can literally turn their hands to anything from making clothes to refurbishing furniture - you name it t- hey will have a "go" at it!
So it was in this environment I grew up, and have enjoyed a diverse creative journey, but it was more than 40yrs ago I sourced a 2nd hand pottery wheel and kiln which my ever patient husband helped me to obtain and I set forth on my pottery journey.
Unfortunately or fortunately, business, children and the farm took over all my time for many years but now that we are "semi retired" I can now pursue my passion and am able to spend many enjoyable hours in my spacious studio throwing pots and constantly learning and researching new ideas.
I think the message really is you are never too old to start something or rediscover an old interest - the only thing stopping you is you!!
